Member of the Brussels Bar since 1979, Robert is specialized n labour law, criminal law and financial criminal law.
Robert is head of a team, made up of Hilde Smout and Olivier Chapelle, which offers full (both advice and litigation) and multilingual (French, Dutch, and English) services to national and international companies and their executives in workplace rights, social security law, and social criminal law.
The skills of this team covers both individual and collective social rights, and questions related to employment contracts, secondment, compensation, workplace rules, work hours, safety and well-being, reassignment of workers, redundancies, restructuring, and collective conflicts.
In the area of social security, Robert’s team is particularly interested in the different aspects of the social status of workers, including the issue of the “false independent.”
They also assist their clients during different company inspections and regulations. Robert’s team also practices social criminal law, in the belief that today the criminal risk is an increasingly important factor in the decision-making processes of businesses and one that affects companies and directors alike.
In this field, Robert’s team assists clients to prevent problems by identifying these risks, and ensuring their defense in criminal courts.
Besides financial and criminal labour law, Robert’s team also practices traditional criminal law.
Robert regularly participates in symposiums and specialized conferences in the aforementioned areas.
Since 1998, Robert has written a regular column in the social journal ‘L’Echo’. He promotes and participates as a speaker in symposiums organized by Vanham & Vanham, the IFe, and Infotopics.
On June 19th, 2006, after serving two years as Dauphin of the Order, Robert was elected by the general assembly of the lawyers to head the Order. As the head, he directs and represents the Order. He presides over the counsel of the Order and the general assembly of lawyers.
